Shadow of a Doubt
The first supporting character in the movie that would be sorely missed if he wasn't in it would have to be Herbie Hawkins. Herbie is a good friend to Joseph Newton, who both has a fixation with murder. He may not be really important to the overall plot of the movie, but he brings a sense of humor to it. Herbie doesn't really have a connection with young Charlie or Uncle Charlie, but he is the one who brings up the topic of the other man that's accused of murder. Herbie's humor was the main focus for me though. It brought a little light to the darkness of the film.
