The Russo Brothers Reportedly Set to Direct The Avengers: Infinity War Parts 1 and 2

Directing team Russo is all set to direct two parts of Disney-Marvel’s “Avengers: Infinity War”. They are scheduled to shoot in 2016 and 2017, respectively.

Russo brothers were directors for “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and will also direct its sequel “Captain America: Civil War”.

There have been some rumors of Joe and Antony Russo taking over the “Avengers” from Joss Whedon (director of “Avengers” in 2012 and “Avengers: Age of Ultron” scheduled for release in May this year.)

Thus, it is 4 Marvel movies for the Russo brothers – making it the greatest number Marvel has ever signed with a director or a directing team, in this case. Previous director of “Avengers”, Whedon will have finished 2 movies for Marvel and Jon Favreau also just 2 movies – “Iron Man”.

The brothers are currently working on “The Grey Man” at Sony and there are certain rumors of them directing “Ghostbusters” with Channing Tatum. Considering the time required to shootthe two “Avengers” it is not clear whether the Russo brothers will be able to direct anything in between.

It is now on Sony to decide whether to wait for the brothers or to find some alternative way to finish one of these projects before the brothers start with “Avengers”. John and Antony Russo have just recently signed a three-year first-look featureagreement with Sony Pictures, starting this April.

Next project for Russos will be “Captain America: Civil War” under Disney-Marvel, which will include Sony’s new Spider-man, as part of the Sony-Marvel deal.

The official repps for Russo brothers are WME and JakowayTyerman.
